Nobi's latest feature: Auto-Snooze

Automatic snoozing of the smart Nobi lamp for even more accurate fall detection

One of the core ideas that Nobi has put a big focus on since the very beginning is the danger of alarm fatigue, and the importance of 100% accurate fall detection. Reducing false-positive alarms is essential in this. Thanks to the new Auto-Snooze feature, the Nobi lamp senses when a second person enters the room and the fall detection functions will be temporarily interrupted.

How does Auto-Snooze work?

Situation one

Marie is reading a book in her armchair when a caregiver pops in. She is helped up so she can drink her coffee at the table.

The lamp currently detects that 2 people are moving, and will temporarily interrupt the fall detection function. Hence, the lamp will also not escalate a fall when the caregiver quickly kneels down to pick up Maria's book that had fallen under her chair. As soon as the caregiver leaves the room, the lamp will automatically resume the fall detection functions.

Situation two

Anna's children and grandchildren are visiting. While the adults are socialising, the grandchildren are playing hide-and-seek.

Because it detects more than 1 active person in the room, the lamp will not escalate a trap when the grandchildren hide behind the sofa. Once Anna's visitors have left for home, the lamp will automatically resume its fall detection functions.

Why is this relevant?

For both residents and carers, the Auto-Snooze feature will be able to make a difference.

  1. People still living at home and residents of residential care centres

When visiting, the lamp will no longer trigger unwanted escalations, such as when grandchildren are playing on the floor.

  2. Caregivers

Caregivers will no longer trigger false fall alarms when helping or visiting residents by, for example, putting on stockings on their knees or crouching to remove dust from under the cupboard. This allows them to do their work undisturbed.

The smart Nobi lamp will only automatically snooze when it is 100% sure that there are two active people in the room. When in doubt, the fall detection functions remain active, so no fall can be missed.

The Auto-Snooze feature has been in use since mid-April, and was automatically activated on all Nobi users. They were notified about this via the app.
