Sometimes our smart light does its job too well. For example, a hung dressing gown may be seen as a person, or an open bathroom door may automatically trigger the light. Implementing an ignore zone or ‘ignore zone’ is an easy solution to write off recurring situations, and avoid unnecessary alarms.
What is an Ignore Zone?
An ‘ignore zone’ is a part in Nobi's field of view that the lamp will consciously ignore. This way, we can exclude fixed, constant situations that Nobi unintentionally detects as a person, think of a coat rack, for example. In this way, the Ignore Zones ensure that the lamp works optimally.

When can an Ignore Zone be interesting?
An ‘ignore zone’ is added when the unwanted or faulty detection of a person disrupts the lamp's operation in a concrete way. But only when there is no risk of missing a fall.
Some examples where an ignore zone is appropriate
Nobi Pendant / Ceiling that counts a dressing gown on the coat rack as a person;
Because the lamp recognizes a robe as a person, there are some features that could potentially be disrupted. Fall detection features will alarm unnecessarily in some cases, just too slowly in others - assuming there is another person in the room. The automatic light could also turn on and off erratically.
Thanks to the ‘ignore zone’, there is no longer any consideration for the robe.
Nobita seeing a resident lying on the bed through an open bathroom door;
With an open bathroom, the Nobita will sometimes detect a part of the bedroom. Especially with a view of the bed, this could cause annoyances at night. Nobita would then, for example, see a resident on the bed, conclude that a person is present and switch on the bathroom light.
An ‘ignore zone’ in this case allows to eliminate the overlap in field of view between the two lights.
How do you set up an Ignore Zone?
Currently, implementing these zones is reserved for Nobi administrators via the back-end. If you think of a customer who could benefit from an ignore zone, please contact support@nobi.life .
An Ignore Zone is linked to the lamp on which it is set. So, to avoid blind spots, the lamp should always be reset to factory settings when it is installed in another room.
